The BRICS group, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and recently Iran, plays a significant role in international relations. Initially established as an informal group for economic cooperation, BRICS has now evolved into an important and influential entity on the global stage. From an economic perspective, BRICS is recognized as one of the driving forces of global economic growth. Its members engage in extensive economic and trade interactions among themselves and with other countries, significantly influencing global markets. The inclusion of Iran in the group not only adds to BRICS’ importance but also expands the scope of economic and technological cooperation among its members, while enhancing the group’s influence within international institutions like the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund. BRICS members are striving for reforms in global governance systems to better reflecthe interests of developing countries
Politically, BRICS has consistently emphasized the need to reform the global governance structure. The group seeks to amplify the voice of developing nations in international institutions such as the United Nations, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund. Iran’s membership can contribute to these efforts, enabling more countries to play an active role in global decision-making processes
Overall, the expansion of BRICS as a multilateral entity signifies an increase in the power of developing countries in competition with traditional economic political blocs. This could help establish a more balanced and equitable global system
Multilateral cooperation within BRICS is significant not only in the economic sphere but also in areas such as science, technology, health, education, and food security. The inclusion of Iran in BRICS can strengthen these collaborations in the West Asia and Middle East regions, contributing to sustainable development and enhancing regional interactions.
In this regard, based on the directives and approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the Organization for Cooperation, Advancement, and Transformation and the International Cooperation Organization of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, the mission of establishing an international platform for technology exchanges among BRICS countries as the International Technology and Innovation Hub of Iran has been assigned
This platform will play a key role in expanding technology exchanges, exporting technological products, and transferring technical knowledge among BRICS member countries. By establishing this platform, Iran will emerge as a significant technology hub within the region and the BRICS group, contributing to stronger technological and economic ties between BRICS members. Furthermore, the platform will create new opportunities for Iranian tech companies to connect with the large and growing markets of BRICS and benefit from their potential.
Overall, Iran’s accession to BRICS and the creation of this platform can strengthen Iran’s position on the international stage, enhance scientific and technological collaboration with BRICS countries, and contribute to the nation’s economic and technological development.
